The Stay at Home Miniaturists' Club is specifically for those miniaturists who are unable to get to a real life club. Its an extremely active on-line club, with members from the countries shown above, but limited to 35 active members to maintain a club atmosphere.
If you would like to apply for club membership, please complete the Application Form. If we are at full strength, you will be placed on the waiting list until a place becomes available for you, at which time you will be required to join the Yahoo group SaHMClub.
New members are taken on on a four week trial period, for you to see how you like us and for us to see whether you are able to join in enough. A club member will be appointed as your Buddy, so that you will have an immediate friend within the club.
We have a few rules, the first being No Lurking - if you join the club you join in. We do generate a very high volume of mail, most of our members being on Individual Mail and zapping replies off very quickly. We expect a minimum of two messages a week from every member, more if you can manage it.
We meet in the club chat room on the first Wednesday of each month at 8pm UK time to do a small on-line project, normally suggested by one of the members. Kits are often made available at a small charge. Instructions are then posted for those members who can't get to the meeting. There are also quarterly swaps and small competitions.
All club members have their own Photo Album on the club site too, for showing off what they have made etc. In addition, we have Sunday Show & Tell, where members send in photographs of what they have made during the week. This has been successful in encouraging members to finish one project before starting on another. Every Sunday I look through the Show & Tell album and select one photograph to be Photograph of the Week on our home site.
Twice a year we hold an Open Evening (ie open to non-club members), in November when Jane Harrop holds one of her very popular workshops, and, new for 2009, in May, when Kathryn Grey of Fine Flowers in Miniature will take a flowers workshop.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hope to be able to welcome you into the club.
